Helical Piers & Helical Piles Installation

We offer complete installation service of Helical Piers & Helical Piles and nearby areas. Helical Piles/Piers usage has increased significantly as a direct result of the versatility and cost-effectiveness of the helical anchor system. The ability to utilize helical pile anchors for both compression and tension applications makes the manufactured anchor system an attractive alternative for deep anchor construction.

True advantages. Fast to install.

Helical piles/piers have the built-in advantage of quick installation ion with smaller equipment, immediate loading application, and cost-effectiveness when compared with traditional anchor methods. Helical piers also feature built-in quality control through on-the-job tracking of the torque-to-capacity ratio during installation.

The Helical Pile/Pier Composition

A helical pier /pile utilized can be a round shaft open steel pipe pile, a solid square steel shaft, or a combination of both round and square with one or more helical plates welded to the pipe at the tip. Installation of Helical piles is done by rotating the shaft of the pile. As the shaft rotates, the helical plate enters into the ground advancing the shaft with it. This is much like a wood screw. A Helical Pile is usually utilized to resist compression and lateral loading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Helical piers, also known as helical piles or screw piles, are built using steel shafts with helical plates of various sizes to suit the site unique ground conditions.
Helical piles Are Usually constructed of galvanized steel to protect it from rust. Helical piles are normally round hollow bottoms or solid square piers constructed from steel.
Even though Helical Piers are usually galvanized to prevent rust, the assortment of soil conditions can affect the life range. It is the general estimation that piers last over 150 years in usual soil situations.
The purpose of a helical pile is to provide anchor support for structures of various types and sizes. This is similar to the old-fashioned pile-foundations, helical piles (also referred to as helical piers , screw piles or helical anchors)
The cost of a helical pier will depend on the design, weight and size of the structure and the surrounding soil conditions. Due to significant variables, an installed helical pier may range in price from $15-$30 per foot. This being so, a standard 20-foot helical pier may cost between $300 - $600 each.
Helical piers can be used for both residential and commercial purposes. They are often used in mini piles, caissons, and driven piles. Helical piers come in handy when the structure is built in unstable soil such as cases where the soil has very high water content.
Helical piers are steel pipes with helices attached, or cork screw-like plates at the end. The helices pull the pier into the ground instead of pushing it into the ground. It does rely on a heavy structure to reach capacity. Installing helical piers is more efficient process and quicker than push piers.
The helical plates attached to the steel shaft of a helical pier help to move the pier deep into the soil during installation.  When competent load-bearing soil is reached, the pier is anchored solidly in place.
Helical piles are installed by screwing them into the soil, much like a corkscrew is twisted into a bottle of wine.
If we assume each pier has a bearing area of 1.6 sq ft (two helices of 12" diameter each), there must be a minimum of 405,000 lbs/12,000 psf divided by 1.6 ft2/pier, or 21 piers around the perimeter. If a factor for safety of 2 is used, 42 piers should be used for the project.
